O'Neill World Cup

The O'Neill World Cup of Surfing is an annual surfing competition that is held in Hawaii in the United States. This competition is comprised of the top professional surfers in the world and is usually the second competition that comprises of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.

The O'Neill World Cup Hosts The Best In The World
The O'Neill World Cup is held annually at Sunset Beach, Hawaii. The very first event was held back in 1975 and now has a total prize pool of $135,000. The 2010 event is set to start mid-November and will run until the beginning of December. Over 100 of the best professional surfers in the world will compete for the prize money and points that go towards the ultimate Vans Triple Crown.

Australian surfer Joel Parkinson is the defending champion of the 2009 O'Neill World Cup. Parkinson also won in 2002 and in 2006. Fellow Aussie surfer Jake Patterson is another surfer who has won the O'Neill World Cup multiple times over the past decade and both look to go for the top in years to come. Martin Potter is the only surfer from the United Kingdom to ever win the O'Neill World Cup back in 1992.

Beau Bromham is the top British hopeful in the O'Neill World Cup and comes into the 2010 competition looking to take the title back to his native land. The 2010 British Open Champion Johnny Fryer should also be one of the UK's top guns in the O'Neill World Cup as well.
