Short Board Surfing: Pros & Cons

Short board surf is one of the popular water activities. People love to do short board surfing while holidaying in beach areas; short board surfing is not only a great way of having fun, but it also requires audacity to try such activities within the huge tides of the sea. It has some advantages and disadvantages. Check them out below.

Pros:

a. Pitch and height:

People enjoy doing short board surfing when the waves are sheer, swift and also powerful. So a short board is suitable for such wave conditions because of its curved rail outline, spectacular rockers and of course its shorter length.

b. Barrels:

Short boards even work very well inside the barrels. Whether you want to get deep in long barrels or make a home inside the green room, you can choose to ride short boards while surfing.

c. Manoeuvres:

Short board surfing offers a versatile arsenal of tricks along with the coolest riding styles to all those riders.

d. Competitiveness:

If you are looking to compete then short board surf is a great option for you.

e. Other advantages:

Short boards are relatively lighter, smaller and easy to manage while surfing; hence, people should opt for short boards if they are new to surfing activities.

Cons:

a. Short length & rolling:

Sometimes while surfing, you may find a huge tide and rough water, where your short board is not that helpful as it starts rolling because of its short length.

b. Not suitable for older people:

As riding a short board is quite challenging, it is not suitable for inexperienced older people. Again, short boarding requires manoeuvring, that is not feasible for all age groups as they might not do a lot of bending, squatting, leaning and explosive movements. No offensive to the mature readers!

c. Aggressiveness:

As short boarding is very challenging, people tend to face aggressive waves and might get injured in some cases.

d. Durability:

As short boards are light due to less resin, glass and less foam, they are more prone to damage due to continuous exposure to breaks, dings and also the pressure of the tides.
